PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH PREVIEWS SATURDAY NOVEMBER 21 – MONDAY NOVEMBER 23

Watford v Manchester United – Saturday 1245

Positions: Watford 11th, Man Utd 4th

Form: (League matches only – earliest matches first):

Watford
LDLWWL (7pts)

Man Utd
WLWDDW (11pts)

  • With Watford short of goals, the visit of a Manchester United team who have not conceded for four league matches promises to be tough. UInited many themselves find Watford difficult to break down, especially given Anthony Martial’s injury. For all the fans’ dissatisfaction with their style of play, United are just two points off the pace, as well as leaders of their Champions League group.

Chelsea v Norwich City – Saturday 1500

Positions: Chelsea 16th, Norwich 15th

Form:

Chelsea
DLWLLL (4pts)

Norwich
DLLLLW (4pts)

  • Norwich lie just one point ahead, and the two sides have both scored 16 and conceded 23 so far. It’s been said before, but this surely represents an excellent opportunity for Chelsea to start climbing the table.

Everton v Aston Villa - Saturday 1500

Positions: Everton 9th, Aston Villa 20th

Form:

Everton
WDLLWD (8pts)

Aston Villa
LLLLLD (1pt)

  • Aston Villa cannot fail to take heart from their draw with leaders Manchester City last time out, which ended a seven match losing run. But as they are still the joint lowest scorers in the league, this is still a tough assignment at Goodison Park. Villa defender Jordan Amavi has been ruled out for the season.

Newcastle United v Leicester City – Saturday 1500

Positions: Newcastle 17th, Leicester 3rd

Form:

Newcastle
DLWLDW (8pts)

Leicester
LWDWWW (13pts)

  • Newcastle’s form may be picking up, but this is a tough match against a buoyant Leicester team. If he recovers from the injury that saw him miss the two international matches, Jamie Vardy will get the chance to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in ten successive Premier League matches.

Southampton v Stoke City - Saturday 1500

Positions: Southampton 7th, Stoke 12th

Form:

Southampton
WWDDWW (14pts)

Stoke
WWWLDW (13pts)

  • Two of the most in form teams clash here. However, Southampton may have the edge, as while Stoke have recorded four wins in six, they remain the joint lowest goalscorers with just ten for the season. Unless they can find their shooting boots, the wins are unlikely to continue.

Swansea v Bournemouth - Saturday 1500

Positions: Swansea 14th, Bournemouth 18th

Swansea
LDLWLL (4pts)

Bournemouth
LDLLLL (1pt)

  • Two teams in poor form, who will both regard this as a winnable game and a chance to break their run. But it may be the Swans who will be the most nervous, given they are at home and the pressure is building on manager Garry Monk.

West Bromwich Albion v Arsenal - Saturday 1500

Positions: West Brom 13th, Arsenal 2nd

Form:

West Brom
LLWWLL (6pts)

Arsenal
WWWWWD (16pts)

  • With four defeats in the last six, West Brom have slipped into the bottom half, and face a very tough task here. Many commentators believe this could be Arsenal’s best chance of the title since their last success 12 years ago with the ‘Invincibles’ team.

Manchester City v Liverpool – Saturday 1730

Positions: Man City 1st, Liverpool 10th

Form:

Man City
LWWDWD (11pts)

Liverpool
WDDDWL (9pts)

  • Is this Liverpool’s chance to make a statement? City failed to break down bottom of the table Aston Villa last time out, and while Liverpool’s six match unbeaten run ended at Crystal Palace, their match did follow a Europa League game in Russia. Daniel Sturridge could return for Liverpool here. ews from the Etihad this week is that Samir Nasri is out until February.

Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United – Sunday 1600

Positions: Tottenham 5th, West Ham 6th

Form:

Tottenham
WDDWWD (12pts)

West Ham
DDWWLD (9pts)

  • Tottenham are unbeaten since the opening day (and unbeaten with Hugo Lloris in goal), West Ham have only one defeat in nine and Tottenham are the division’s draw specialists. So is a draw the most likely result here?

Crystal Palace v Sunderland – Monday 2000

Positions: Crystal Palace 8th, Sunderland 19th

Crystal Palace
WWLLDW (10pts)

Sunderland
LDLWLL (4pts)

  • The fortuitous win over Newcastle failed to kick start Sunderland’s season, and they go into the match at Selhurst Park having lost the last two.
