FOUR WHEELS IN THE PADDOCK

F1 drivers are enjoying themselves in USA. Jenson Button took part in a triathlon at Hermosa Beach California - ¼ mile ocean swim, a 10 mile bike ride and a 3 mile run. He won. Meanwhile Daniel Ricciardo went horse riding in Nicaragua (unless there is another Maderas Village somewhere in the USA but I could not find it). Bottas visited the police department in Georgetown, Texas. Hamilton visited Will Smith in LA.  Retired Mark Webber, now 40, likes to be up in the mountains of Colorado for the solitude, a bit different to loud engines, huge crowds and relatively small ‘camper’ vans.

For some memorable F1 moments à  http://goo.gl/ExyowT. You can see John Watson’s win going no 22 on the grid to win in 1983 at Long Beach Calif.  Nigel Mansel faints in the Dallas heat in 1984 and how the tyres ruined the 2005 Indianapolis.

But Enough of the Trivia:

John Surtees
There is serious stuff to consider. It’s Austin, Texas for the USA Grand prix. The race starts at 19.00 GMT. Lewis will want to win here and nail the driver’s championship. He could be Sports Personality of the Year again too.

John Surtees won it once in 1959. Two racing drivers have each won it twice, Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill. Lewis could make it three drivers.

Steve Davis finished in the top three five times over. Princess Anne and her daughter Zara Phillips are the only winners from the same family. The oldest winner was Dai Rees (golfer) back in 1957 aged 44 and Ian Black (swimmer) was the youngest in 1958 aged 17.

Good luck Lewis you will be in good company.
