WEEKEND SPORTS ROUNDUP

Football

It was a fabulous weekend for Chelsea as they won 3-1 at title rivals Manchester City in Saturday’s early kick off to go four points clear of City at the top of the table. Chelsea came from behind to record their eighth successive victory, before City saw Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho sent off in a melee just before the final whistle – both players will serve lengthy suspensions.

More excellent news for Chelsea came the following day when Liverpool surrendered a 3-1 lead in the last 14 minutes to lose 4-3 at Bournemouth. Liverpool are also four points off the pace.

Arsenal took advantage of defeats for City and Liverpool to move into second place with a 5-1 win over West Ham. Alexis Sanchez bagged a hat-trick, and some of the goals scored by Sanchez and his team-mates were genuine contenders for Goal of the Month.

Another North London side scoring five were Tottenham. Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen both scored twice in a 5-0 win over Swansea. The Welsh side now return to the bottom of the table.

Manchester United may be becoming increasingly concerned about the number of late goals they are conceding. A Leighton Baines penalty two minutes from time secured Everton a 1-1 draw after United had taken the lead. United are not only 13 points off the top of the table but are as many as nine points adrift of fourth place.

West Brom are up to seventh after beating Watford 3-1.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew may have been facing the sack if his side lost to Southampton, but has players responded in the right way and delivered a 3-0 win. Christian Benteke scored twice.

Sunderland’s revival continues as they beat Leicester 2-0, continuing the champions’ woeful away form – they have just one point on the road so far this season.

Stoke’s good recent form continued with a 2-0 win over Burnley.

Newcastle still lead the Championship, despite a second successive defeat. The Magpies had two sent off as they lost 2-1 at Nottingham Forest. However, Brighton missed the chance to take over at the top when they were held 0-0 at Cardiff.

Preston had two players sent off for fighting with each other in a 2-1 defeat by Sheffield Wednesday.

National League side Barrow beat League One Bristol Rovers 2-1 in the second round of the FA Cup. Another non-league side beating Football League opposition were Sutton, who won by the same score against Cheltenham. There will be a third non-league team in Monday night’s draw as Eastleigh drew 3-3 with Halifax.

Curzon Ashton were dreaming of being the fourth non-league side in the hat when they stormed into a 3-0 lead against Wimbledon, only to see their lead disintegrate in the last 10 minutes as Wimbledon ran out 4-3 winners.

Rugby Union

England completed a remarkable year by beating Australia 37-21 to extend their winning run to 14 matches. After a shaky start, England came through by scoring four tries, two from Jonathan Joseph. If England retain their Six Nations title next year and complete a Grand Slam in the process, they will break New Zealand’s record of 18 consecutive international victories.

Third-placed Bath beat leaders Saracens 14-11 in the English Premiership to move within three points of the pace. Second-placed Wasps beat Worcester 26-12.

Leicester and Exeter both won, so the East Midlands side remain one point ahead of the West Country team in fourth place.

Welsh flanker Dan Lydiate will miss the Six Nations and the British Lions tour next summer after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

Motor Racing

Only days after winning his first Formula One world title, Nico Rosberg has announced his retirement from the sport. The German driver held off a late surge from Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton to win the title by five points.

Boxing

Britain’s Billy Joe Saunders retained his WBO world middleweight title, but not without a scare, as he only beat challenger Artur Avakov on a narrow points decision.

Snooker

Mark Selby won the UK Championships with a 10-7 win over Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final.

Golf

Tiger Woods is once again back on the golf course. The former world number one and winner of 14 majors finished 15th in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.

What Is A Tipster

A tipster is someone who regularly provides information  on the likely outcomes of sporting events.
In the past tips were bartered for and traded but nowadays, thanks largely to the Internet and premium rate telephone lines, they are usually exchanged for money, and many tipsters operate websites. Some of them are free and some require subscription.

A tip, in gambling is a bet suggested by a third party who is perceived to be more knowledgeable about that subject than the bookmaker who sets the initial prices.  Thus a tip is not even regarded by the tipster as a certainty but that the bookmaker has set a price too low  from what the true risk is: it is a form of financial derivative, since the tipster himself risks none of his own money but sells his expert knowledge to others to try to "beat the bookie".

The Tipster must overcome the profit margin integrated into sports betting odds by bookmakers trading teams and then also obtain an additional edge to deliver profit over the long term.

However, many tipping services are scam operations that play on the Behavioral addiction of betting.
Tipsters are often insiders of a particular sport able to provide bettors with information not publicly available. There are other tipsters who provide equally respectable results through analysis of commonly accessible information.

Good tipsters use statistical based estimations and extensive research about the outcome of a game, and compare this estimation with the bookmaker's odds. If there is a gap between the estimate odds and the bookmakers odds, the tipster is said to identify "value", and a person who bets on such odds when they perceive not a certainty but a "gap in the book" is said to be a "value bettor". When value is found, the tipster is recommending the bettor to place a bet.

A tip that is considered to be a racing certainty, that is, almost completely certain to be true, is also called a nap and tipsters in newspapers will tend to indicate the "nap".

Tipping is mostly associated with horse racing but can apply to any sport that has odds offered on it. The relaxed cultural attitude towards gambling in the UK is increasingly resulting in a gambling element being promoted alongside sport coverage in the media.

Newspapers

Most National newspapers in the UK employ a tipster or columnist who provides horse racing tips. Rather than pick a tip for each race that occurs on a given day the normal protocol is to provide a Nap and nb selection.

Nap  indicates this is the tipster's most confident selection of the day.

nb   "Next best" and indicates another selection that the tipster rates highly.

Both types of selections would be counted in calculating the tipsters running profit/loss figure which states how far in profit or loss an individual would be if they had backed every tip with a level stake.

Television

The popular Channel 4 television programme The Morning Line previews weekend horse racing on a Saturday morning culminating in the panel of experts and guests providing their selections for the day. Sky Sports News runs a similar preview segment including expert analysis of the teams and betting odds relating to Premier League football fixtures on a Saturday.

Radio

The United Kingdom, morning national Radio 4 Today Programme usually includes a couple of racing tips in its short sports section  but these are not taken too seriously : but the programme tracks Richardson's performance as a tipster for amusement value: he is usually quite well "down" but just very occasionally is "up" after a correct tip at a long price.

Scams

Premium tipping services charge a fee for accessing a tip or tips by telephone, internet or post. The more reputable companies will keep an accurate record of their tipping activities enabling a prospective client to assess their past form and so anticipate potential future performance. There is a lot of scope for less reputable operations to massage these figures or even to fabricate figures in order to attract new customers. In 2008, the Office of Fair Trading state the figure lost to tipster scams each year is between £1 million and £4 million in the UK alone.

Derren Brown's Channel 4 programme ''The System exposed one method by which tipping services operate. By giving out different tips to different people  in a horse race, one person must win . The bettor who won might then assume that they received real insight into the race outcome from the tipster and may then pay for subsequent tips.

Australia

Australia has led the way in the emergence of tipping competitions where the object is to win prizes for registering virtual bets. The focus of the majority of these competitions has been Australian rules football but the commonly referred to term for the activity of Footy tipping now also covers Soccer, Rugby League and Rugby Union. In the UK there are a growing number of such competitions but most relate to the Horse Racing industry.

In theory, tipping for prizes in a free competition provides a viable alternative to gambling for real. However, many will take the opposite view that it makes gambling more accessible to a wider audience by creating what is perceived to be a safe route in. There is also a lot of scope for gamblers looking to identify good tips using such competitions as an information resource given some competitions publish current tips entered and historical records for the tipsters involved.

Internet

Internet forums are increasingly being used as a means to share ideas and information within web communities and many such forums exist in the gambling arena as a means of discussing views on events or simply offering advice and tips.

While many in the gambling community view this as a way in which they can earn respect from their peers in an otherwise isolated profession, tipping services also use these areas to attract users to their premium schemes.

Stocks and shares

While the term gambling is often considered to be confined to sports betting or at least the services offered by a bookmaker, the classification can also be applied to investing in stocks where the gamble relates to a share or commodity price moving in a certain direction. Stock tips, as publicised in the financial sections of the media, are largely directed at the casual investor but their interrelation and interest to the business sector has proven to be controversial.

The increase in spread betting as a financial derivative also blurs the distinction between financial investment and gambling: since in the United Kingdom a win on a bet pays no tax, but another form of investment might require payment of Capital Gains Tax, there may be a financial advantage to "betting".

Derivatives

Many newspapers and other betting journals such as the Racing Post track the leading newspapers' tipsters and see how well their predictions match the actual outcome, by assuming a nominal £1 bet on every tip that the tipster makes, and calculating the theoretical return. Thus, tipsters themselves can be "tipped" as being a good or bad tipster.

Therefore, it is actually possible in theory to bet on whether a tipster's prediction will be correct .

Other uses

Tipster is also a term used in the United Kingdom for a person who gives information regarding potential news stories, particularly those involving celebrities, to journalists, often in exchange for cash; or more generally an informant.

Alex Higgins - A Snooker Legend

With the snooker UK Championships currently on going, we thought we would today take a look at one of the legend of the game...

Alex Higgins.

Alexander Gordon "Alex" Higgins  was a Northern Irish professional snooker player, who is remembered as one of the most iconic figures in the game. Nicknamed Hurricane Higgins because of his fast play, and is often credited with having brought the game of snooker to a wider audience, contributing to its peak in popularity in the 1980s. He had a reputation as an unpredictable and difficult character. He was a heavy smoker, struggled with drinking and gambling, First diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998, Higgins died of the illness in his Belfast home on 24 July 2010.

Life and career

Early life

Alex Higgins was born in Belfast and had three sisters. often in the Jampot club in his native Sandy Row area of south Belfast and later in the YMCA in the nearby city centre. At age 14 and weighing seven and a half stone, he left for England and a career as a jockey. Higgins was then the youngest ever winner of the title, a record retained until Stephen Hendry's 1990 victory at the age of 21. In April 1976, Higgins reached the final again and faced Ray Reardon. Higgins led 11–9, but Reardon made four centuries and seven breaks over 60 to pull away and win the title for the fifth time with the score of 27–16. Higgins was also the runner-up to Cliff Thorburn in 1980, losing 18–16, after being 9–5 up. Higgins won the world title for a second time in 1982 after beating Reardon 18–15 ; it was an emotional as well as professional victory for him. Higgins would have been ranked No. 1 in the world rankings for the 1982/83 season had he not forfeited ranking points following disciplinary action.

Other victories

Throughout his career, Higgins won 20 other titles, one of the most notable being the 1983 UK Championship. In the final he trailed Steve Davis 0–7 before producing a famous comeback to win 16–15. He also won the Masters twice, in 1978 and in 1981, beating Cliff Thorburn and Terry Griffiths in the finals respectively. Another notable victory was his final professional triumph in the 1989 Irish Masters at the age of 40 when he defeated a young Stephen Hendry.
Post-retirement.

After his retirement from the professional game, Higgins spent time playing for small sums of money in and around Northern Ireland. He made appearances in the 2005 and 2006 Irish Professional Championship, these comebacks ending in first-round defeats by Garry Hardiman and Joe Delaney respectively.

On 12 June 2007, it was reported that Higgins had assaulted a referee at a charity match in the north-east of England. Higgins returned to competitive action in September 2007 at the Irish Professional Championship in Dublin but was whitewashed 0–5 by former British Open champion Fergal O'Brien in the first round at the Spawell Club, Templelogue.

Higgins continued to play fairly regularly, and enjoyed "hustling" all comers for small-time stakes in clubs in Northern Ireland and beyond; in May 2009 he entered the Northern Ireland Amateur Championship, "to give it a crack", but failed to appear for his match.

On 8 April 2010, Higgins was part of the debut Snooker Legends Tour event in Sheffield, at the Crucible, checking himself out of hospital two days before the event, after having been admitted with pneumonia and breathing problems. He appeared alongside other retired or close-to-retiring professionals, including John Parrott, Jimmy White, John Virgo and Cliff Thorburn.

It is estimated that Higgins earned and spent £3–4 million in his career as a snooker player.

Higgins drank alcohol and smoked during tournaments, as did many of his contemporaries. A volatile personality got him into frequent fights and arguments, both on and off the snooker table. One of the most serious of these clashes was when he head-butted a referee at the UK championship in 1986. This led to his being fined £12,000 and banned from five tournaments. He was convicted of assault and criminal damage, and fined £250 by a court.

Outside snooker

At the time of his 1972 triumph at the World Championship, Higgins had no permanent home and by his own account had recently lived in a row of abandoned houses in Blackburn which were awaiting demolition. In one week he had moved into five different houses on the same street, moving down one every time his current dwelling was demolished.

In 1975, Higgins' son Chris Delahunty was born. Cara Hasler in April 1975 in Sydney. They had a daughter Christel and divorced. His second marriage was to Lynn Avison in 1980 at a United Reformed Church. They had a daughter Lauren  and son Jordan . They split in 1985 and divorced. In the same year, Higgins began a relationship with Siobhan Kidd, which ended in 1989 after he allegedly hit her with a hairdryer.

He had a long and enduring friendship with Oliver Reed and was a good friend of John Sykes, with whom he often played exhibition matches.

While not normally noted for his philanthropy, in 1983 Higgins helped a young boy from the Manchester area, a fan of his who had been in a coma for two months. His parents were growing desperate and wrote to Higgins. He recorded his voice on a tape and sent it to the boy with his best wishes. He later visited the boy in hospital, unannounced, and promised that if the boy recovered they would play snooker together. True to his word, once the boy was out, the match was held.

In 1996, Higgins was convicted of assaulting a 14-year-old boy, while in 1997 then-girlfriend Holly Haise stabbed him three times during a domestic argument. Higgins appeared in the Sporting Stars edition of the British television quiz The Weakest Link on 25 July 2009.

Illness and death

For many years, Higgins smoked 60 cigarettes a day.

By 2009, Higgins lived alone in a caravan. He was too ill to have the implants fitted. Despite his illness he continued to smoke cigarettes and drink heavily until the end of his life.

At the end of his life, Higgins' weight fell to. He was found dead in bed in his flat on 24 July 2010. The cause of death was a combination of malnutrition, pneumonia, a bronchial condition and throat cancer. His children survive him.
Higgins' funeral service was held in Belfast on 2 August 2010. He was cremated, and his ashes were interred in Carnmoney Cemetery in Newtownabbey, County Antrim.

Legacy

Alex Higgins was an inspiration to many subsequent professional snooker players, including Ken Doherty, Jimmy White and Ronnie O'Sullivan, who in an interview stated "Alex was an inspiration to players like Jimmy White and thousands of snooker players all over the country, including me. The way he played at his best is the way I believe the game should be played. It was on the edge, keeping the crowd entertained and glued to the action."

In Clive Everton's TV documentary The Story of Snooker, Steve Davis described Higgins as the "one true genius that snooker has produced", despite the autobiography of a contemporary leading professional Willie Thorne characterising Higgins as "not a great player". Higgins arguably fulfilled his potential only intermittently during his career peak in the 1970s and '80s; Everton puts this down to Davis and Ray Reardon generally being too consistent for him.

Regardless, Higgins' exciting style and explosive persona helped make snooker a growing television sport in the 1970s and 1980s. Higgins also made the first 16-red clearance ; it was a break of 146.

SPORTS ROUND UP

Horse Racing -Ladies First

Well done to Hayley Turner who gave everyone a thrilling end to the races at the International Jockeys Challenge in South Africa.  Riding Dream Galaxy she got his nose in front of Gerg Cheyne in the eighth race and believe it or not I can’t find out any more data than that. Not the track, not the time, not the type of race or if it was the last one in the series. Extensive search on the internet drew a blank. I found her own ‘blog’ on BETDAQ but it’s not up to date. Hopefully next week I can give all the details if web sites have been updated. What a great finally for this tremendous jockey.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal opened the new stand at Cheltenham on Friday last week and what a fabulous venue Cheltenham now is. The new paddock and winners layout says it all. The crowds get to see the winners from high up and Horses can be presented to the crowds and paraded along the walk round the winning enclosure.

Horse Racing - Gentlemen

Having opened the stand the three day Open Event at Cheltenham got underway and we saw some great racing.

Sprinter Sacre did a brilliant job in the race and the new winners enclosure did a fabulous job for him. His stable lad was able to parade him round and show him off in front of the waiting crowds and the real hero got the validation he deserved rather than just being walked off to the stables. Well done to all concerned though for such a wonderful show.

We have this week however to reflect and applaud one of our best jockeys, Pat Eddery OBE. Applauded and rightly so for his contribution to racing by the TV, newspapers and internet media I would like to honour him with this.  https://goo.gl/NMy4ff One of his greatest triumphs.

Sports Personality of the Year

Contenders are currently being worked out. Lewis Hamilton, Mr. Mo Farah, world rowing champ Helen Glover, Scott Brash - equestrian extraordinaire, Jessica Ennis-Hill, World and Olympic Champion. And we cannot forget A. P. McCoy. There are lots to choose from although nominations ended awhile ago. There is still time to bet though.

Snooker: The Champion of Champions final is on Sunday evening. It should be a very good match. I would like to see some flare in snooker fashions though. I looked up the dress codes for players and they have to comply with match specific regulations each time. Black, and black and grey or white won’t bring in the youngsters. Some bright bow ties, bright shirts or bright waistcoats might. Our youngsters are very fashion conscious.

Examples of colour.

THE SPORTING WEEKEND

The Penultimate Race

Lewis, you are making it hard on yourself, first a fever and then a minor car accident. Brushing your car against another! Sounds like your mind was on the F1 track not the road! - not the best start to the Brazilian weekend having already delayed your arrival at the track by a day.

Sounds like some counter intention in the area. Someone doesn’t want you to win again. I just wonder, is it Rosberg? Maybe it is someone else on your team or in your life. Wheedle them out. Go tell them “take a running jump”.

 The King

Djokovic starts his end of year Association of Tennis Professionals campaign on Sunday along with the other qualifying players of which there are 7 at the O2 arena. My favourite, but I would not place a bet on him, is Nadal. Such a handsome chap!

Snooker that Bazooker

The Champion of Champions tournament started with a fabulous but unexpected knock out.  The world champ went out to a 17 year old! I watched the match and learnt more than one lesson. I could actually see how he lined up his shots and the intent with which he played them.

(Eye, body, cue, position, ball-strike and finally ball into the pocket). No doubt a champ of the future. I would not like to guess who will knock him out now the world champ has folded. Tipsters better watch out. Did any of them nominate Yuelong?

Practice makes perfect, and snooker is an excellent example to youngsters as to what can be achieved. Who’s next?

The Mayflower, Henry and the sport of Queens

Target practise over: Anon fair players, to the mark. March yee. (That’s medieval for get ready to play). Take a swig of beer in the garden says the landlord, grab your fans and stand ready.

Line up on the green: Up the other end slices of ringed cracked oak stand ready just like you. Take your pointed shaft 25 cms long, (that’s 10 inches to us golden oldies) aim and pray you hit the target.

HRH Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother
True to English tradition the rain spoils play (again), and everyone moved back into the drinking house. Forever.

Henry (no. 8) was gifted a set of dart arrows from Queen Anne Boleyn.
We sent the game to America on The Mayflower, a hundred years or so later, (it was played aboard ship), then the French got involved with wooden shafts, lead weights and turkey feathers, (always thought the French, bless ‘em, were nuts) but getting it back from the USA later on paper flights got included.

Modern darts board and flights
England in even more good old ale brewing tradition decided on the throwing distance. Beer crates were measured, 3ft long x 3 = 9ft, (throw line to the bull), just the job and with developments in the darts board itself it was hello to the modern game.

Ranking World no 1 Michael Gerwant beat the world Champ Gary Anderson and retained his PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) European Championship title last week and now we await the Open in Malta.

This link is a must for every darts player. Never down or out those without eyes can teach us a thing or two. http://goo.gl/4wjjp3

Snooker and the ‘Champion of Champions’

The completion to find the champion amongst the champions started yesterday, Sunday 8th November, up in Coventry. It is a real treat to watch a gentleman’s game (forgive me ladies I know you play too) in the peace and quiet of the venue where the ultimate sin is to distract the player at the table.

Selby at the practice Table

I have played snooker in my time and enjoyed the experience of actually hitting the balls with a cue except the balls never went in the direction I wanted them to go! How do you do that? The skills exhibited by our players where ever they are playing indicate that practice makes perfect. That’s the policy to follow if you want to be a champ and travel the world. I would like to travel the world but snooker is beyond me!

Horse Racing

One-upmanship for the ladies in a race to the winning post, Michelle Payne took the honours over Frankie Dettori who managed to earn a ban and a fine of over £9000. I found a recording of the race on YouTube
and having watched it 7 or 8 times, my verdict is not guilty. Hope he appeals.

Michelle on the right Frankie on the left

Hayley Turner our best lady jockey made her last appearance as a jockey in the last flat race of the season. In the November Handicap at Doncaster she rode Buonarroti into 2nd place behind Litigant. Hayley had 763 winners to her name and a 12% strike rate. She will however make a very last riding appearance over in South Africa in The International Jockeys’ Challenge on 13th and 14th November. You can find out what that is all about at http://goo.gl/2QnT1y  Two teams, one from South Africa and one made up of Jockeys from all over the world take part. Guess who will captain the international team.  Our lovely Hayley! That’s what I call women’s lib. I will let you know how she and her team get on.

Tennis

WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China went to Venus Williams and whilst she represented the Williams Serena, if the press and video’s are to be believed, went chasing after a mobile phone thief and got her mobile back off him. Go here for that one! http://goo.gl/Ih2m47

Whilst all eyes, well mine at any rate, have been on the Breeders Cup, the F1 Championship and the Melbourne Cup Andy Murray earned his place in the Paris Masters Final but failed to beat Djokovic. That’s 21 matches to Djokovic and 9 to Murray.  Djokovic is possibly the greatest player of all time.

Golf

The World Golf Championships have moved along and Russel Knox has won the day going 18 under par. British players Ross Fisher and Danny Willett made equal 3rd. Rory Mcllroy came in 11 having played despite food poisoning taking its toll.

The ladies continue with their Sanya Ladies Open with three Chinese heading the leader board. The closest Brit is Holly Clyburn place fourteenth with 5 under par. Her tweet place is @HPClyburn. Anyone male or female can cheer her on.

Cricket on the Wicket

Well here goes, I’m not exactly a fan I must admit, probably because I don’t understand the rules of the game and those positions on the cricket field like silly mid on.

Silly mid on? Does it mean its a bit silly to be that close to the guy with the bat cause you might just get hit in the head by the ball if it comes in your direction or if he lets go of his bat if it comes to that. ‘Short leg’, someone with one leg shorter than the other?  No idea what ‘follow on’ means.  Is it when the referee says ‘it’s time for tea’, and they all traipse after him to the pavilion? Is the jargon, ‘dismissed’, a form of red card for sending a player off?  In ‘reply’ - the captain’s mobile rang and he answered it?

So, to the drawing board on cricket folks, good old wiki will help me out I expect unless any of you can recommend a really really really simple web site for me to go to that explains it all. I will let you know how I get on.

                                          Featherie Golf Balls

Pakistan and England had a good time out on the pitch in the heat.
How on earth did the Pakistan team make 598 for 9 batters (whoops sorry - batsmen),and England, 523 for 8 batsmen. One person made 200? Wow. Even I know that is pretty good. Both teams batted again and the umpire calls bad light! Bad light stops play so neither side can win? Match drawn. Well they could have played under flood lights but both teams had said no earlier on.

The International Cricket Council is considering the use of different coloured balls in all test matches, like pink! Red is difficult to see in floodlights.

"It may be that we use a different coloured ball for all Tests," said ICC chief executive Dave Richardson.

Short and Sweet

Tennis the Menace.

So Djokovic does it again. Knocks out Murray from being in the Shanghais Open final and then beats Tsonga 6-2, 6-4. Took 78 minutes. I couldn’t find out what the prize money was for winning the final but have found out he has won £10,666,000+ in one season. Nice one. Hope he banked it all before he started spending it. I wonder what he pays Becker? By the way he has a gluten free diet.

Golf on the Green Carpet

Miramar golf Club
There are plenty of golfing to follow from 22nd -25th October 2015.

The LPGA ladies have the Taiwan Championship at the Miramar Golf Club. PGA has the US Tour matches over in Las Vega.

On this side of the pond the European Tour over in Hong Kong is the last men’s tournament for this season.  All the hot shots are taking part. Go here for the list of players and scores once underway http://goo.gl/3jp3tA

Snooker the Bazooka

All the round 2 matches in the Haining Open are known and getting underway the competition having started this morning. Watch this space if you will.

Sports Round Up

Rugby Native Plays

Our home nations all play this week-end for a place in the semi finals of the Rugby World Cup. The Red Dragon, The Thistle and The Clover join South Africa, New Zealand, France, Argentina and Australia in the quarter finals. No guessing for whom I support. Saturday at 4pm I will be glued to the TV. check out times and venue of all the matches on the BBC Sports web site.

Tennis on the Bounce

The latest, Murray beat Berdych 6-1, 6-3 in the Shanghai Open quarter finals and Djokovic beat Tomic, 7-6 6-1.

Nadal played a blinder beating Wawrinka 6-2, 6-1. and Tsonga beat Anderson 6-7, 7-5, 6-4  his place and plays Tsonga in the semi finals. It is so good to see Nadal playing his top game again.

In the ladies Hong Kong Open the last 8 have reached their quarter finals.
Great Brit’s Heather Watson went out to Stosur (seeded 5). With no ranking herself Watson has done really well to reach the quarter finals and go out to a player ranked at no. 5. The other matches are later today.

Cricket on the Wicket

Pakistan has 523 runs, England have 250. Looks like an exciting match. Cricket evolved in England back in 1598 at the time of Elizabeth 1st, lofty beginnings indeed. Here is the England team a little later on a tour of the USA in 1859.

Boxing in the Ring and with Brush

Michael Conlan of Belfast has become the Bantamweight World Amateur Champion and is now heading for Rio.  Super-heavyweight Jo Joyce is heading in the same direction. Taking medal positions in European boxing and at the Commonwealth Games he says boxing comes first behind his other passion, art.  He has a degree in fine art from Middlesex University.

Here he is brush in hand

Snooker the Bazooka

Ronnie the Rocket O’Sullivan has decided not to take part and defend his title in the Champion of Champions match play next November. No reason has been given.

Rory McCloud, ranked 61 in world snooker took the Ruhr Open at Mulheim in Germany beating Tian Pengfei, ranked 70, 4-2.

The Haining Open starts on Monday 19th. £70,000 total prize money, with £13,500 to the winner. It is closely followed in Danqing, China on 25th October 2015 by the International Championship. This brings £657,000 in prize money, £125,000 to the winner.

F1 Round the Bend

Rosberg needs to quit his whining. Red Bull need an engine to remain in F1 next year and McLaren say reserve F1 driver Kevin Magnussen will go at the end of the season. Magnussen has other possibilities but has to wait till the end of the season to find out who will sign him up. (All according to Autosport).

Lewis visited the set of ‘The Martian’ and released a picture of it. I watched the movie during this last week - great movie. Very entertaining film. Lewis also, according to the Daily Express, got on stage to sing at an after party night club gig.  Rock on Lewis.

£1'267 From FREE TIPS!

Hi,

Today I would like to talk about a proofing tipster who continues to provide it's followers with profits.

If you are a regular follower of our proofing and trialing tipsters your probably already aware of who I am going to mention! Nevertheless, for those that have up till now not been following, there details are as follows...

Now, as these tipsters are proofing they do not have a tipster name as yet. This is because over 90% of proofing tipsters fall by the way side. However this tipster has been consistent for a number of months. Indeed they started proofing to us in January of this year. The tipster concentrates on three sports which are...

Tennis
Snooker
Darts

The tipster has a unique way of finding consistent winners using a method they devised a number of years ago. This method works on any sport where there is two outcomes, that of course is a win for either player. Our tipster prefers to concentrate on the three above mentioned sports.

Now, before you ask...
I do not know what this method is! I have asked on more than one occasion, and to be truthful the tipster is keeping the secret to himself!

The method I have been told is only one small part of the selection process however, with more criteria needing to be past before a selection is advised.

So who is this tipster?

Well if you have or have not yet followed our proofing tipsters you need to click on the link here > https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tTJhj3UYdaZC1Uy9zLSU30zSW--MefI50v39YAfqC00/edit?usp=sharing
