PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH PREVIEWS - TUESDAY MARCH 1

Aston Villa v Everton – Tuesday 1945

Positions: Aston Villa 20th, Everton 12th

Form (last six matches – league matches only – earliest results first):

Aston Villa
DDLWLL (5pts)

Everton
DDLWWL (8pts)

  • Everton remain far from consistent, but will certainly start as favourites against an Aston Villa side who surely already want the season to end. Jordan Ayew returns from suspension for Villa, while John Stones may return from injury for Everton.

Bournemouth v Southampton – Tuesday 1945

Positions: Bournemouth 15th, Southampton 7th

Form:

Bournemouth
WDWLLD (8pts)

Southampton
WWDWWL (13pts)

  • A run of seven clean sheets for Southampton and their goalkeeper Fraser Forster ended with the defeat to Chelsea. However, there were still plenty of positive signs for the Saints in that match, and they will start as favourites against their South Coast neighbours.

Leicester City v West Bromwich Albion – Tuesday 1945

Positions: Leicester 1st, West Brom 13th

Form:

Leicester
DWWWLW (13pts)

West Brom
LDDLWW (8pts)

  • Leicester’s last gasp win over Norwich on Saturday was cited in some quarters as a hallmark of champions – they can get results while not at their best. The most heartening thing for the leaders at present is their improved defensive record, with only five conceded in the last 10 matches. They may find life tough though against a West Brom side who now have just two defeats in nine, especially as midfield revelation N’Golo Kante is sidelined. This may be a low scoring affair.

Norwich v Chelsea – Tuesday 1945

Positions: Norwich 17th, Chelsea 11th

Form:

Norwich
LLLLDL (1pt)

Chelsea
DWDDWW (12pts)

  • Norwich have gained just one point in the last seven matches, and with Chelsea still unbeaten in domestic matches under Guus Hiddink, anything other than an away win will be a major surprise. Pedro will be unavailable after joining Chelsea’s injured list.

Sunderland v Crystal Palace – Tuesday 1945

Positions: Sunderland 19th, Crystal Palace 14th

Sunderland
LDLDWL (5pts)

Crystal Palace
LLLDLL (1pt)

  • There have been encouraging signs for Sunderland of late, but they still remain second bottom. Crystal Palace meanwhile are 10 matches without a win and in desperate need of something to turn the tide. Both sides will therefore look to this match as one they can win. Palace could be boosted by a first start since December for Yannick Bolasie.
