PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH PREVIEWS - SATURDAY MARCH 19

Everton v Arsenal – Saturday 1245
Positions: Everton 12th, Arsenal 3rd
Form (last six matches – league matches only – earliest results first):
Everton
LWWLWL (9pts)

Arsenal
DWWLLD (8pts)

  • Arsenal now have just one win in eight in all competitions, and none in their last three league matches. They are also conceding at least two goals in most matches at present. If they do have any title hopes left, then they may need to win all their remaining matches. In spite of their poor results, and their exit from two cups in the space of a few days, there may be some crumbs of comfort to be taken from a decent performance in Barcelona. Everton have three wins and two losses in the last five, and there could be plenty of goals here. Everton could welcome back Muhamed Besic after a lengthy lay off.

Chelsea v West Ham United – Saturday 1500
Positions: Chelsea 10th, West Ham 5th
Form:

Chelsea
DDWWWD (12pts)

West Ham
WLDWWW (13pts)

  • A potentially very exciting game between two teams in excellent league form.  Chelsea may though be suffering a hangover from their two recent cup exits, so West Ham may have the edge.

Crystal Palace v Leicester City – Saturday 1500
Positions: Crystal Palace 15th, Leicester 1st
Form:

Crystal Palace
LDLLDL (2pts)

Leicester
WLWDWW (13pts)

  • Leicester produced a scrappy performance – Shinji Okazaki’s spectacular goal aside – in beating Newcastle 1-0. So is that performance a sign of a coming downturn in results, or does one take the opposite view and say that winning when not playing well is the true hallmark of champions? Either way, Leicester will be strong favourites here given Palace’s current league form.

Watford v Stoke City – Saturday 1500
Positions: Watford 14th, Stoke 9th
Form:

Watford
DLWDLL (5pts)

Stoke
LWWWDL (10pts)

  • Stoke go into the match in the better form, but while Watford have not won any of their last three matches, they only conceded two goals in those matches. Furthermore, they also claimed a superb FA Cup win at Arsenal last weekend.

West Bromwich Albion v Norwich City – Saturday 1500
Positions: West Brom 11th, Norwich 18th
Form:

West Brom
DLWWDW (11pts)

Norwich
LDLLLD (2pts)

  • West Brom have three wins, and a draw against the leaders, in their last four matches, and only one defeat in seven. They must therefore start as favourites against Norwich, who have taken just two points from a possible 30.

Swansea City v Aston Villa – Saturday 1730
Positions: Swansea 16th, Aston Villa 20th
Form:

Swansea
DLLWWL (7pts)

Aston Villa
WLLLLL (3pts)

  • Aston Villa have lost their last five matches, conceding 17 goals in the process as they look like exiting the Premier League with something of a whimper. At some point they will win again, but the chances are it won’t be here. Francesco Guidolin will return to the Swansea dugout following a recent illness.
