• United have now lost three successive matches in all competitions, and the press stories are full of details of perceived weaknesses in their team. Yet only a short time ago they had won all of their first three matches and were looking very formidable. There has to be every chance United will get back to winning ways here as Leicester have made an inconsistent start and have only beaten Swansea and Burnley so far.

Bournemouth v Everton – Saturday 1500

• Everton have made a flying start and you would certainly fancy Everton (only three goals conceded to date) to beat Bournemouth (only three goals scored).

• Things are certainly looking up for Liverpool, who have recorded impressive wins over Leicester and Chelsea in their last two matches. Jurgen Klopp’s side will certainly be favourites to beat Hull, who have not won in three.

Middlesbrough v Tottenham Hotspur – Saturday 1500

• Tottenham are unbeaten and once again their success is based on a sound defensive record, with only two goals conceded to date. Harry Kane’s injury is obviously a blow, but Middlesbrough have made an uneasy start to life in the Premier League and Spurs will still be favourites. Danny Rose has signed a new five year contract with Spurs this week.

Stoke City v West Bromwich Albion – Saturday 1500

• Stoke have been seen as a team who are difficult to beat, but the Potters have conceded 14 goals already this season, which continues the poor defensive record they demonstrated at the end of last season. West Brom were themselves struggling to score until they put four past West Ham last time, and Stoke may be targeting this one to finally get a win on the board.

Sunderland v Crystal Palace – Saturday 1500

• After a difficult start Palace are finding some form, but the same cannot be said for Sunderland. Palace probably start as favourites, but like Stoke, the Black Caps will also see this as a winnable home game where they could possibly kick start their season.

• An intriguing clash between an Arsenal side who appear to be finding form after not winning the first two, and a Chelsea side whose very promising start has tailed off a little. While Arsenal are in better form over the last two matches, none of their wins to date have been against a top eight team, and Chelsea could take the points here if their star players shine.

West Ham United v Southampton – Sunday 1600

Football Review - Sunderland v Everton

David Moyes takes on his former team Everton tonight at the Stadium Of Light.

Moyes has admitted that he expects this season to be a long hard struggle against relegation for his new side Sunderland, and things will not be easy tonight against the Toffees.

Romelu Lukaku is expected to play this evening and he could be a thorn in the side of the Sunderland defence. Lukaku has failed to score in the Premier League this season so will be eager to get off the mark.

Lukaku has been in scoring form more recently however with a double for his national side Belgium. Two goals against Cyrpus may well be enough to get him up and running in the Premier League this evening.

New manager Koeman will be wanting to improve on Everton's 11th position finish last season. His brought wisely in the Summer and Ashley Williams has been added to a creaking defense in possibly the best signing of the window.

Sunderland have a few injuries tonight and it's important that they can support their lifeline Defoe.

It will be an intriguing encounter and we expect a tight game.

Looking at all markets the best value on offer seems to be in the goal scoring markets with Lukaku 11/2 with Hills to be first goalscorer.

·         After winning hearts during their spirited Euros campaign, Northern Ireland face a tricky encounter as they start their mission to qualify for another major tournament. The absence of Craig Cathcart from their defence due to injury is something they could have done without.

European World Cup Qualifying Group C – Norway v Germany - Sunday 1945

World rankings: Norway 50, Germany 4

·         Germany will expect to start their qualifying campaign with three points here.

European World Cup Qualifying Group F – Slovakia v England – Sunday 1700

World rankings: Slovakia 24, England 13

·         And so another new era for England commences, as they once again try and rebuild after a major tournament failure. It will be interesting to see who new manager Sam Allardyce picks in goal with both Fraser Forster and Jack Butland absent with injury. Joe Hart, now loaned to Torino, has played only one club match this season; Alex McCarthy is not even his club’s first choice and Tom Heaton has only one cap. West Ham midfielder Michail Antonio is the only new name in the squad, but will he get any game time? Slovakia should not be underestimated but England will fancy their chances, after all qualifying has not been their problem in recent years.

·         Scotland, the only home nation not to make Euro 2016, now start the harder task of trying to secure a place in the next World Cup. If they cannot start with a win here then they will certainly be facing an uphill struggle.

·         Ireland start life without now retired record scorer Robbie Keane in this match. A draw would be a good result, not to mention an achievable one. Marc Wilson, Harry Arter, Paul McShane, David Forde, Alex Pearce, Eunan O'Kane and Callum O'Dowda all return after missing the Euros.
