Manchester City still lead the Premier League, but only on
goal difference. Pep Guardiola’s side made amazing start to the season but have
now failed to win their last two matches. On Saturday they were held 1-1 at
home by Everton, while Arsenal beat Swansea 3-2 to move level on points.
Liverpool can also reach 19 points if they beat Manchester United on Monday
night, although they would require a three-goal win to take over at the top.
Tottenham are one point behind, so by only drawing 1-1 at
West Brom they missed the chance to go top.
Chelsea ensured Leicester’s away day blues continued as
Alberto Conte’s side won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Leicester have now lost four

and in doing so moved up to third bottom.
Highest scorers of the weekend were Bournemouth, who
thrashed Hull 6-1.
Norwich still lead the Championship after beating Rotherham
3-1. Huddersfield lost 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday, and so Newcastle took the
opportunity to grab second spot from them with a 3-1 win over Brentford.
Tennis
Andy Murray’s superb year continued as he beat Roberto
Bautista Agut in the final of the Shanghai Masters, his sixth tournament win of

rankings before the end of the year.

last to have found some batting form, as Lauren Winfield made 79 and Natalie
Sciver 58 in a total of 220. West Indies could reply with only 108.
In Sunday’s fourth match, West Indies amassed a useful total
of 223-6, but England were initially well on course. Tammy Beaumont made 57,
Winfield 51 and captain Heather Knight 36, and at one stage England were well
placed at 133-1. However, a collapse to 181 all out followed, with five players
being run out.

Northampton at home to Montpelier, a 35-8 defeat for Exeter at home to Clermont
Auvergne and an easy 82-14 win for Wasps over Zebre.
Munster’s match against Racing 92 was postponed after the

Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding Bradley Wiggins and
Team Sky refuses to go away. Wiggins has previously been granted a Therapeutic
Use Exemption (TUE) to take a banned substance for medical reasons. However,
Team Sky director Sir David Brailsford this weekend once again refused to
disclose the contents of a mystery package delivered to the team during a race
in France in 2011, which Wiggins won. The delivery is being investigated by UK
Anti-Doping. Wiggins will be absent from today’s parade of Britain’s Olympic
and Paralympic stars through the streets of Manchester.
